Bocagrande

Bocagrande is a peninsula off of downtown Cartagena, and is where the city’s beaches are located. Robyn and I went three times. The first time we went late in the afternoon, and found that the men selling things and ladies offering massages were quite aggressive, to the point where we couldn’t enjoy the beach at all. The next time,  we found a hidden gem, the Sunset Beach bar!

This bar is located off of the Hotel Dann, and is semi-private; you get the same gorgeous views and you’re right on the beach, but no one bothers you!  They have a ton of comfortable, shaded cabanas, which are perfect for a relaxing day. The best part? No charge! We just ordered a few drinks the first time we went, and got lunch the second time. Prices are very reasonable. As the name suggests, you will get to see some pretty gorgeous sunsets from this place!

  1. It has been a lot of fun reading your blogs. Besides getting to know all the fantastic places and scenery, I am picking up many useful Spanish words from them too. Bocagrande (big mouth) makes sense since I have seen Rio Grande. El Viajero being the Traveler. Playa Blanca made me wonder about Casablanca, could it be, yes, the white house! If I keep up this pace, I should have no problem when I get to Spain 🙂

    Enjoy the trip!
