An afternoon in Georgetown

Last weekend, my sister and I spent an afternoon visiting her alma mater, Georgetown University, and strolling through the surrounding neighborhood. I always loved visiting her when she attended school here. The campus has many beautiful buildings; you can practically feel the history seeping out of the Gothic and Georgian architecture.

The nearby homes are equally charming. These brightly colored row homes add a touch of whimsy to an otherwise austere landscape.

We continued our tour through her old stomping grounds…

We also stopped by the apartment she and her roommates shared during their senior year (memories!).

Next, we made our way down to the hustle and bustle of M Street for a bit of window shopping, and a quick bite at Old Glory.

And on our way back, we couldn’t resist a stop at Georgetown Cupcake (featured on the TV show “DC Cupcake”).

Everything in this store is just adorable. Exactly as a cupcake shop should be!

I went with the pumpkin spice cupcake, and my sis, who was delighted to find that they sold gluten-free cupcakes, went with the chocolate lava cupcake. As you may have guessed, they were incredibly delicious. So much so, that we devoured them on the walk back to the car!

A great end to a great day!

  1. I love the look of the cupcake shop here, and especially the way the cakes come in the Pink cardboard boxes, it’s so cute and exactly like you see in films x
