TheWit Hotel, Chicago
I spent my first night in Chicago at TheWit Hotel, a chic and trendy Doubletree by Hilton property, located in the South Loop. I knew it was a great choice when they handed me a warm chocolate chip cookie at check-in!
Between the cookies and the sleek, club-like decor, I must fit their target demographic! Glass tables, teal velvet sofas, hot pink accent pillows, damask… I basically want my living room to look like this!
This place was beyond gorgeous, and it was every bit as luxurious and comfortable as you might imagine.
I also spent some time on the rooftop bar, creatively named…ROOF! The music was great, with tunes spun by a DJ, who was accompanied by an electric violinist. Pretty cool! Guess I should have kept up with those elementary school violin lessons. According to the bartenders, the venue features a retractable roof, which makes ROOF a major summertime destination. The night I went, half of the space was actually closed off to patrons, but my new friends showed me around as those are where the best views can be seen.
I have to agreee! Guess I’ll have to come back when the weather is warmer.
The next morning, I had a leisurely breakfast at State & Lake, located on the first floor of the hotel. Again, excellent service and delicious food. Can’t go wrong in this place!
The accommodations and amenities at TheWit were great, but the best part was how nice all of the hotel staff was! Every single employee I came in contact with not only did a fantastic job, but also started conversations with me as if we were old pals. Upon finding out that it was my first day in Chicago, everyone offered up helpful tips and neighborhood information. If this is the midwestern charm everyone keeps talking about, I think I’ll enjoy living in Chicago!
